In addition to a GIFS-customized Short-Term Insurance (NQF 5) qualification, participants will be prepped for a successful career in SA’s insurance space by being mentored by prominent industry leaders. They will benefit from critical “inside information”, learn the tricks of the trade, and be guided and moulded to play a leading role in the future of the industry.
“The next year will be unprecedented as far as personal and professional growth is concerned for all Top 20 learners,” explains Dr Kershen Pillay, CEO of GIFS. “No doubt, it will be challenging and they will be pushed to their limits, but my advice to all participants is this: the sacrifices you make and the work you put in, will have an enormous impact on your future. You have the talent and the tenacity. Now make these work for you!”
The President of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng (IIG), Darryl Grater, comments, “The IIG is really excited and proud that the 2020/2021 intake continued in spite of Covid-19, where the content delivery had to be redesigned for digital learning. The commitment of the IIG, sponsors and GIFS has been exemplary and collectively the industry pushed ahead with this initiative knowing that SA youth unemployment even before pandemic was approaching 60% – such courses are crucial to enable deserving youth a real chance at employment, and supported with IIG mentors, they have the best chance at succeeding. A big thank you to Sasria, Hannover Re, Bryte, Guidewire and MTN for making this possible for over 300 students in 2020/2021. We wish the Top 20 all the best and look forward to celebrating with them this time next year!”
