Santam and GIFS partner to upskill unemployed youth
The Graduate Institute of Financial Sciences (GIFS) and Santam have teamed up to provide an economic lifeline to 20 unemployed and disabled youth in the Western Cape.
The group, including six young people with disabilities, will undergo an intensive 12-month Short-Term Insurance 4 programme that has been customised for Santam. Over the next year, they will receive critical employable skills to chart a career in SA’s Short-Term Insurance sector.
The youth will learn the ins and outs of the STI space, attend RE 5 workshop training, and will also need to complete a Sales module. The programme is split between guided online learning and in-attendance exams at the end of the programme.
Santam will offer learners who successfully complete the programme, employment.
Dr Kershen Pillay, Chief Executive Officer at GIFS states: “This extraordinary initiative is made possible by Frans Kutumela, Head of Leadership and People Development at Santam, and Botsepegi Motau, L&D Lead: Learnerships and Compliance at Santam who are as passionate about empowering our youth through education as we are here at GIFS. We are thrilled to be involved as both our organisations are perfectly aligned to uplifting lives through education. Specifically, this initiative reflects GIFS’ vision to build a better Africa for others to inherit.”
We wish the 20 learners well and look forward to journeying with them on this life-changing opportunity.
