Launch of the Graduate Institute of Financial Sciences and the GIFS annual awards
Feathers and frills, beads and baubles, and prints and pearls were all the rage at the official launch of the Graduate Institute of Financial Sciences (GIFS) in Johannesburg on 5 April 2019! The Zulu Nyala Country Manor in Fourways dazzled under our Great African Gatsby theme as The Green Team rolled out the red carpet for guests.
A fire-breather turned up the heat, tattoo artists crafted the new GIFS logo on guests’ hands and, for the brave, poses with a snake-handler made for interesting photos!
Emcee, Carol Waljee, kept everyone on their toes and in stitches, with her quips, observations and trademark chutzpah, while rising young star, Daniel Jenkins, made sure there was plenty of foot-tapping, head-bopping and sing-a-longs when he belted out hit after hit.
GIFS CEO, Kershen Pillay, spoke about the transition from Masifunde Training Centre (MTC) to the Graduate Institute of Financial Sciences, stressing, “GIFS continues with MTC’s deep commitment to spearheading sustainable, positive change in South Africa by mobilising the power of education to bring about socio-economic advancement. This is embodied in the GIFS mission to build a better Africa for others to inherit.”
The evening also celebrated excellence as we awarded stellar performers in various categories during the Annual GIFS Awards ceremony. We are very excited about the official launch of the Graduate Institute of Financial Sciences and look forward to engaging with all our valued role-players under our new GIFS banner!
