GIFS donates free COVID-19 course to help fight pandemic

As part of a campaign to assist fellow South Africans during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Graduate Institute of Financial Sciences (GIFS) has made available an informative COVID-19 course at no cost to prospective learners. The course, valued at R2 500, is open to all South Africans.

“As a nation we must work together in sharing the spirit of ubuntu,” says Dr Kershen Pillay, CEO of GIFS. “If we as businesses and individuals can provide solutions that serve the greater good of this country, we will come out on the other side more resilient and ready for any challenge in our shared future.”

Health and finances

GIFS specifically designated this course for free learning to help inform the general South African public on pertinent issues of health and other facts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The COVID-19 virus and the repercussions of the pandemic has forced every South African to consider their daily actions and implement strict health control measures to mitigate the spread of the virus,” says Pillay. “With this course, we aimed to provide learners with helpful information that they can apply in their daily lives.”

GIFS has designated another free course, to be rolled out soon. The course on Financial Literacy will stand alongside the COVID-19 course in helping South African business owners and individuals make sense of their finances in this uncertain period.

“We hope that these free courses will provide South Africans greater insight into their health and financial matters, as making the right decisions in a personal capacity can greatly benefit the rest of society. We are all in a position to uplift our fellow South Africans at this moment in time, and our actions now will determine our future,” Pillay says. “We are all in this together.”
