31 years of democracy and a reminder of the hard-won struggle for freedom
As a thought leader in financial services education, it’s our pleasure to host discussions that provoke debate and inspire hope. We had another opportunity to do exactly that during a visit to the iconic Constitution Hill in Johannesburg on the third day of our Future of Education: A 5-Day Global Exchange in May 2025.
The gathering comprised delegates to the Exchange, with a tour by Ms Mbali Baduza, the CEO of WeThePeopleSA. The organisation works across the country to promote understanding of our Constitution and active citizenry. Among the high-profile attendees was Mr Bulelani Ngcuka, the country’s first National Director of Public Prosecutions. He spoke about the importance of the Constitutional Court as the apex court in the country.
Thirty-one years into democracy and it’s our Constitution that has acted as our moral compass as a country. Reflecting on how far we’ve come, Mr Ngcuka encouraged the gathering to act as ambassadors of hope by ensuring the rule of law prevails.
Delegates left Constitution Hill with improved knowledge around our constitutional foundation and a heart full of hope for our future as a country.
