GIFS and Absa: Enabling the next-gen STI stars

In a trailblazing first for SA banking, GIFS and Absa have teamed up to enable 16 rising short-term insurance stars within Absa’s AIC team with agile skills and capabilities to tackle the complex, rapidly changing world of STI head-on.

Absa’s immersive education adventure with GIFS kicked off last month and will span a year. GIFS has fully customised AIC’s Short-Term Insurance 5 learning journey to include multiple areas of specialization, including Class of Business, CPD, RE Workshops and Absa’s product-specific knowledge.

The programme is fun, collaborative and tech-driven, and GIFS has also woven in local expertise with a Pan-African relevance to give learners a well-rounded perspective. This includes critical soft-skills training and nurturing a growth mind-set.

When the learners graduate in March 2022, they will be eligible for the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) professional designations, making them enormous assets for Absa – and the SA space!
